Goulburn Valley Health Website: Behind the Scenes Security Upgrades
20 March 2026
For those who are a bit more technically minded, here’s a look behind the curtain at some of the work we’ve recently completed for Goulburn Valley Health (GV Health).
We often share visuals of the websites we design and build, but a large part of what we do happens behind the scenes — ensuring those websites are secure, stable, and performing at their best.
Following a detailed review, the GV Health website has undergone a series of security and performance upgrades at both server and application level. One of the key improvements was migrating the site to PHP-FPM, a modern processing method that improves speed, stability, and efficiency under load.
We also implemented a range of protections to reduce exposure to automated threats. This included blocking access to unused system paths, preventing suspicious request patterns, and filtering out bot traffic before it reaches the website — helping to reduce server load and unnecessary alerts.
At a deeper level, firewall protections (ModSecurity with OWASP rules) and brute force prevention tools are now actively monitoring and defending the site. Additional WordPress hardening measures further reduce potential vulnerabilities.
While not always visible, this type of work is critical — ensuring essential services like GV Health remain secure, reliable, and ready to perform when it matters most.
