WASH in HCF: Expanding Global Access Through Smarter Translate
16 March 2026
At Blick Creative, we’re always looking for ways to improve accessibility — not just in how websites look, but in how they can be used by diverse audiences around the world.
Our recent updates to the WASH in HCF website are a great example of this in action.
Within the WASH FIT section of the site, we’ve added a new highlight and direct link to the WHO Academy WASH FIT course — making it easier for users to discover and access high-quality training resources directly from the platform.
Previously, this section of the website was available in four key languages — French, Spanish, Russian and Arabic — ensuring accessibility for a broad global audience. While effective, this approach required manual management and was limited to specific sections of the site.
We’ve now taken this a step further by implementing Google Translate across the entire website. This allows users to instantly translate content into virtually any language, significantly expanding access and usability worldwide.
The result is a more flexible, scalable solution that better supports the global health community.
Looking ahead, we’re exploring an upgrade to neural translation technology — using advanced AI to deliver more accurate, natural-sounding translations and an even better user experience.
It’s a simple change with a big impact — helping critical health resources reach more people, in more places, in the language that works best for them.
