Monthly Muse—Charlotte Swiden

For Blick’s Monthly Muse of April we’ve decided to feature one of Mark’s (Blick’s Director) long time friends, Charlotte Swiden.

The Melbourne-based Swedish Artist has a background in Graphic Design, and back in February Mark attended her exhibition titled ‘Foundations’ at Modern Times in Fitzroy.

After a 10-year hiatus from painting, this was her first solo Art Exhibition. The works featured are organic and warm, using motifs of figures, landscapes and plants in more earthy colour tones that form really appealing abstract pieces. This exhibition is a celebration of Charlottes ‘foundations’ that have lead her to this point in her career trajectory. They act as journal to document her return home and love of Scandinavia, and how her heritage informs her work, which is a lovely sentiment.
