Vote — Yes

19 September 2023

The Blick team firmly believes that voting “Yes” is a positive step towards recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and promoting the well-being of all Australians and Australia as a whole.

In simple terms:

  • Why wouldn’t you support the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our constitution?
  • Why wouldn’t you want to provide them with a voice for direct communication with the government, ensuring representation across the country?

A constitutionally protected Voice empowers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to have a direct say in the laws that impact their lives. This can lead to tangible improvements in areas like employment, healthcare, education, and justice.

If you vote “No,” what will it achieve?
It halts progress, perpetuates the suppressive aspects of white Australia’s history, and leaves Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people without a direct channel for advocating change in their best interests.

Voting “Yes” may not be a perfect solution, but it is a crucial step towards recognising the rights and voices of our First Nations people. It represents progress and offers hope for positive change for Indigenous Australians and the broader community.

The choice is yours, but we sincerely hope you join us in voting “Yes” to support a fairer, more inclusive future for all Australians.
