The National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) is a not-for-profit organisation that offers Australia’s only tertiary qualification in circus arts. It attracts applicants from all over the world and is recognised for its innovative and imaginative circus training programs.
Every year, NICA showcases the talents of their second and third year students in a series of creative performances. Each show is guided by a distinct theme, and the marketing collateral has to accurately convey the unique tone, plot and features of the performance in a way that differentiates it from those previous.
Blick’s work for NICA spans many productions and publications. Most commonly, we are responsible for creating a full suite of marketing collateral for each performance season.
The collateral often requires our design team to bring the theme of the show to life in a single frame. We achieve this with detailed photo manipulation, such as using a real composite that is heavily photoshopped to create a realistic scene.
NICA projects are always fun, providing us the opportunity play with cropping, colours, treatments, styles, fonts and many other elements to create inspired, dynamic designs that tell a story and translate to PR images, postcards, programs, posters, eCards and a lightbox.
Blick’s work for NICA consistently generates positive media buzz and public interest around the productions, as well as the organisation. In addition to performance collateral, Blick has also provided art direction on photoshoots, and designed annual reports, corporate brochures and press adverts for NICA.
